Corporate writing

I have worked for various organisations over the years, mainly to supplement the freelance income, sometimes as a full-time income.

Here are a few…

Late in 2021 I wrote profiles of two Gippsland campaigners/members of  the non-government organisation Environment Victoria.

In mid-2021 and late  2020 I proof-read handbooks for the teaching of various courses, on behalf of Adult Learning Australia. I have also proof-read editions of  the ALA quarterly, Quest, from time to time.

Late in 2018 I proof-read town planning documents for the Pyrenees Shire, in Western Victoria.

From September 2012 to February 2013 I had  a part-time contract with Independent Schools Victoria. I wrote 35 stories about the Smarter Schools National Partnerships program, and the Southern Cross program. Most of the stories were phone interviews with teachers and principals.  I did visit a few schools: a small Catholic primary school in Sunshine, and Muslim schools in Tarneit and Preston.

Victoria Legal Aid   is a statutory authority,  effectively the largest law firm in Victoria, with a staff of over 500 in 15 offices across the state. It represents 40,000 clients per year, takes 90,000 calls per year and distributes more than a million brochures per year. I edited the weekly online staff newsletter and the quarterly corporate newsletter for five years, until January 2011.

Environment Victoria is the peak non-government environment organisation in the southern Australian state of Victoria. Throughout 2005 I managed the nascent Your River project, a series of personal stories about Victorians’ love of their rivers.

Victoria University is one of  Victoria’s largest universities with higher education and TAFE campuses across the western suburbs of Melbourne. From 2000 to 2004 I wrote about a variety of disciplines across the university, from sports science to nursing to engineering to microbiology, and much more.

RMIT is a global university of technology and design and Australia’s largest tertiary institution. I freelanced briefly for their media department in early 2011.
